INTRODUCTION TO TRACKING - Sunday 29.05.22
The Club has held a very successful workshop for novice dog owners.
We had 10 working spots (10 dogs attending and being trained) and unlimited amount of observing spots (people with o dogs). The 10 working spots have sold out in under one hour from the moment the advert for the workshop was posted.
Due to DOGS NSW closing the grounds on 25.05.2022 an emergency venue was secured, unfortunately for a much higher fee, dipping into potential profits for the club.
In total we had about 25-30 people attending.
Samantha Hendricks (Haveloc German Shepherds) was the instructor, with Monika Kawecki (MonElite Dobermanns) as a helper.
First 1-1.5 hours was theory part, where a differences between tracking styles was explained, some different methods of training, motivators, equipment etc.
After the theory part the practical part was outside, with each dog having an opportunity to their start to tracking twice (once with Sam and once with Monika as a trainer) and then once a lesson in article indication with Samantha.
There was a great friendly atmosphere, with participants enjoying the day, including a group lunch at the venue the workshop was held at.
The feedback received on the day, and post workshop in comments on the Facebook page, was fantastic. People commented how well the workshop was organised, how approachable and friendly trainers were, how informative was the theory part and easy to follow instructions during the practical part. Attendees thanked the club for organising such event, asking for more of similar style events, covering not only tracking but perhaps other dog sports.
